Basketball Game Preview: Bolivar Central Tigers vs. South Gibson Hornets

The Bolivar Central Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the South Gibson Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bolivar Central has now lost ten straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since December 17.

Last Friday, Bolivar Central ended up a good deal behind Haywood and lost 55-41. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th in Tennessee, while the Tomcats are ranked 154th in Tennessee).

Meanwhile, South Gibson unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 32-31 to Dyersburg.

Bolivar Central will have to keep a close watch on Jade Reed and Faith Reed, a pair of players who had a big impact on South Gibson's prior game. Jade went 6-for-7 en route to 13 points and six rebounds, while Faith posted eight points. Jade is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 60% in the last five games she's played.

Bolivar Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-22. As for South Gibson, their defeat dropped their record down to 24-7.

Bolivar Central took a serious blow against South Gibson in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 69-32. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Bolivar Central was down 34-10.
