Baseball Game Preview: Viewmont Vikings vs. Olympus Titans

For the second straight game, Viewmont will face off against Olympus. The Vikings will take on the Titans at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Viewmont needed a bit of extra time to put away Olympus. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Titans, sneaking past 6-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Vikings as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Cash Stump was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Gehrig Lee was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Viewmont's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 1-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Bam Christopherson, who went 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Viewmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Olympus moved to 12-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Viewmont, their record is now 3-12.
