Columbus faced Cypress Bay in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Explorers walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Lightning. The win continues a trend for the Explorers in their matchups with the Lightning: they've now won three in a row.

Kevin Perez paced Columbus' offense, picking up six kills. Perez got some help from Charlie Friguls and his ten assists. Jake Nu?ez controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Columbus' victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Cypress Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.

Columbus and Southwest, looking ahead, after both having extra time off, will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court at 7:00 p.m. on the 18th. As for Cypress Bay, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Cooper City on the 9th.
