Basketball Game Preview: South Panola Tigers vs. Olive Branch Conquistadors

The South Panola Tigers are taking a road trip to square off against the Olive Branch Conquistadors at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Olive Branch will be up against a hot South Panola squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. South Panola breezed by Saltillo to the tune of 62-26 last Tuesday. Given South Panola's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Saltillo is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Olive Branch had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.5 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Chargers as they made off with a 74-48 victory.

South Panola has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.0 points per game. As for Olive Branch, their win bumped their record up to 14-7.

South Panola beat Olive Branch 73-66 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Panola since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
