Basketball Recap: Ben Woodard's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lawrence Academy over Perquimans County + How To Watch

Lawrence Academy lost against Perquimans County on Monday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Warriors took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Lawrence Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ben Woodard, who shot 56% from the field en route to 10 points and eight rebounds. He is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Carter Hoggard was another key player, dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards.

Perquimans County had a senior duo take command as Xavier Spellman went 7-for-17 to rack up 22 points and seven rebounds and NaQuan Riddick shot 63% from the field on his way to 12 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Parker Nixon, who posted ten points.

Lawrence Academy's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Perquimans County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lawrence Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Pungo Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Perquimans County will take on Washington County in a holiday battle at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
