Basketball Game Preview: Columbia Eagles vs. Triad Knights

The Columbia Eagles will head out to square off against the Triad Knights at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 74-33, which was the final score in Columbia's tilt against Breese Central on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Cougars are ranked seventh).

Triad has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 45-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Highland on Friday.

Columbia's defeat dropped their record down to 21-6. As for Triad, their loss dropped their record down to 20-8.

Things could have been worse for Columbia, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 53-37 loss to Triad when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Columbia avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
