Baseball Recap: Lowell Comes Up Short

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Lowell and Rockford have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Red Arrows fell just short of the Rams by a score of 2-1. The Red Arrows were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Rams earlier this season, when they won 5-2.

Owen Dennings was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

Lowell's loss dropped their record down to 22-10-1. As for Rockford, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-16.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lowell will take on East Grand Rapids at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rockford, they will venture away from home to take on St. Johns at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
