Softball Recap: Tavares Drops Season-High Score on Leesburg

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Tavares). They never let the Leesburg Yellow Jackets get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Thursday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 5-2 back in March.

Emersyn Lee made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four runs gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Pattee, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Bailey Rasmussen was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Tavares kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 9.

The victory (which was Tavares' fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Leesburg, they dropped their record down to 13-7 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Tavares wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-0 victory against Egg Harbor Township on the 22nd. As for Leesburg, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 8-3 loss against Windermere Prep on the 21st.
