Softball Game Preview: Pineville Rebels vs. Florien Blackcats

The Pineville Rebels will take on the Florien Blackcats at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Pineville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.

Pineville blew Ouachita Parish out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Ouachita Parish got their revenge. The Rebels fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Rebels have suffered since March 18th.

Madalyn Halle made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Cassidy Sicuro, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Florien and DeRidder have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Blackcats lost 11-1 to the Dragons.

Florien dropped their record down to 7-16 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Pineville, their defeat dropped their record down to 27-5.

Pineville came out on top in a nail-biter against Florien in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, sneaking past 6-5. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blackcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
