Baseball Recap: China Spring Finds Playoff Glory Versus Lumberton

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but China Spring had no problem doing just that on Friday. They never let the Lumberton Raiders get on the board and left with a 9-0 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 21 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Jackson Fetters made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jacob Klement, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Dean Hannah, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

China Spring kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory (which was China Spring's 25th in a row) raised their record to 35-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Lumberton, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 26-11-1.
