Baseball Recap: Deer Valley Takes a Loss

Deer Valley had lost seven straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 0-15 to make it eight. They lost 19-0 to the Freedom Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 4-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

As for Freedom, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 11-12 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Freedom's part, Devan Carmignani made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Carmignani has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Landon Clenney was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Dylan DeLauter was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.

While Deer Valley had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
