Baseball Recap: York Takes Down Ranked Lake Region

York faced Lake Region in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Wildcats sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over the Lakers. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lakers, too.

Bradley Carr was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jack Joyce, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The victory was the fourth in a row for York, bringing their record up to 10-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Region, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Coincidentally, York and Lake Region will both be playing Freeport the next time they take the field. The Lakers will host the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Wildcats will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
