Baseball Game Preview: Simpson Academy Cougars vs. Leake Academy Rebels

For the second straight game, Simpson Academy will face off against Leake Academy. Simpson Academy will take on Leake Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Simpson Academy will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

Simpson Academy proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 14) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged out Leake Academy 6-5.

Brayden Allen made a splash no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Barrett McKenney was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Gage Smith was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.

Simpson Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Simpson Academy pushed their record up to 12-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Leake Academy, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-2.
