Softball Game Preview: Covington Buccs vs. Ansonia Tigers

The Covington Buccs will square off against the Ansonia Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Ansonia took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Covington, who comes in off a win.

Last Tuesday, Covington sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over Marion Local. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Buccs.

The team relied heavily on Emma Ouellette, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Ansonia unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 13-7 to Eaton on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost six in a row.

Avalyn Locke was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3.

Even though they lost, Ansonia was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eaton only posted a batting average of .207.
