Baseball Recap: Carlin Takes a Loss

Carlin extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 34 on Friday, dropping their season record down to 0-15 in the process. They came up short against the Smith Valley Bulldogs, falling 24-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-0 on Friday.

As for Smith Valley, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by 13 runs or more this season.

For Smith Valley's part, Brody Lommori and Gaston Rodriguez were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Lommori tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Lommori went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI, while Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Rodriguez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Wyatt Wulfing, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. He is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joseph Marshek, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Carlin will square off against rival Wells at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Smith Valley is set to face off against their familiar foe Mineral County at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.
