Baseball Recap: Eunice Has No Trouble Against Texico

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lovington, Eunice was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the Texico Wolverines with a sharp 24-5 win. Considering the Cardinals have won five games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Jose Calvillo was a standout: he scored three runs while going 4-for-6. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Fernando Serna, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.

Eunice always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .612. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Eunice has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.9 runs over those games. As for Texico, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Eunice is set to take on their familiar foe Loving at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Texico will square off against rival Jal at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
