Baseball Game Preview: Dekaney Wildcats vs. Nimitz Cougars

For the second straight game, Dekaney will face off against Nimitz. The Wildcats will square off against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dekaney is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Dekaney took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Nimitz. Considering the Wildcats have won 12 matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Michael Hayes made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Micah Green, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Dekaney is 6-1 when Green posts two or more runs, but 10-13 otherwise. Anthony Cruz was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.

Dekaney always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They are 12-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Nimitz's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16. As for Dekaney, their record is now 16-14.
