Baseball Game Preview: Memorial Roughriders vs. Parkway Panthers

The Memorial Roughriders will head out to square off against the Parkway Panthers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Memorial's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Parkway's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Memorial's offense. They lost 10-0 to Defiance on Thursday. The Roughriders have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost meeting.

Parkway couldn't beat Marion Local on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Panthers came up short against the Flyers, falling 11-4.

Parkway saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carson Kirby, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI. Parker Lyons also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Parkway has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.

Memorial couldn't quite get it done against Parkway in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 as they fell 6-2. Can the Roughriders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
