Basketball Recap: Gerald Layne's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Trinity Prep over Alleluia Community

On Tuesday, the Trinity Prep Lions were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 72-67 to the Alleluia Community Angels. The Lions have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Trinity Prep's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gerald Layne, who went 7 for 16 on his way to 15 points in addition to six assists and six boards. The game was Layne's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Beau Blocker, who posted 20 points.

Trinity Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Alleluia Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Trinity Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-53 win against Peachtree Academy on the 16th. Alleluia Community has also already played their next game, an 85-74 victory against Providence Classical Christian on the 17th.
