Basketball Recap: Menlo-Atherton's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Menlo-Atherton had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 59-54 W over the Miramonte Matadors. Given the Bears' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Matadors are ranked 448th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Miramonte still got an impressive performance from Preston Rguem, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists. The dominant performance gave Rguem a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Logan, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 12 points.

Menlo-Atherton is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Miramonte, they now have a losing record at 5-6.

Menlo-Atherton has already played their next contest, a 73-60 victory against Valley Christian on the 28th. As for Miramonte, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-37 win against Windsor on the 28th.
