Softball Recap: Timberline Takes a Loss

Timberline fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Eagle on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 5-4. The loss continues a trend for the Wolves in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

Delaney Wright spent all 7.1 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mallorie Casch was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she hit this season.

Timberline's defeat dropped their record down to 11-3. As for Eagle, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Timberline will take on rival Centennial at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Wolves have won five straight at home, while the Patriots won five straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Eagle is set to face off against their familiar foe Rocky Mountain at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
