Basketball Preview: The Villages Charter Buffalo vs. Mount Dora Hurricanes

The Villages Charter has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Mount Dora Hurricanes at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Villages Charter knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 contests -- so hopefully the Hurricanes like a good challenge.

The Villages Charter put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Trinity Catholic with a sharp 70-48 victory. 70 seems to be a good number for The Villages Charter as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

Deonte Sesler was nothing short of spectacular: he almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Bill Allen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

Meanwhile, Mount Dora's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 16th straight loss. They were dealt a 65-30 defeat at the hands of Eustis. While losing is never fun, Mount Dora can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 636th, while the Panthers are ranked 68th).

The Villages Charter has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-11 record this season. As for Mount Dora, they dropped their record down to 1-21 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Everything came up roses for The Villages Charter against the Hurricanes when the teams last played back in December of 2023 as the squad secured a 72-23 win. With The Villages Charter ahead 53-18 at the half, the match was all but over already.
