Baseball Game Preview: Westfield Bulldogs vs. Rock Ridge Phoenix

The Westfield Bulldogs will square off against the Rock Ridge Phoenix at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Westfield easily dispatched Newark on Thursday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Bulldogs fell just short of Chantilly by a score of 6-4 on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Tucker Whitacre was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kase Cochran was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Rock Ridge's offense. They lost 14-0 to Handley on Wednesday. The Phoenix have struggled against the Judges recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Westfield's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Rock Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
