Football Recap: Pieper Falls Despite Big Games from Cash Lancaster and Brady Hopper

After flying high against Wagner last Friday, Pieper came back down to earth. The Warriors took a 27-17 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Smithson Valley Rangers on Friday. The matchup marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Pieper had strong showings from Brady Hopper, who gained 104 total yards and a touchdown, and Cash Lancaster, who picked up 144 receiving yards.

Even if they lost, Pieper's defense still kept up the pressure with five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Smithson Valley's side was Raja Lopez, who picked up a sack and made 14 total tackles.

Pieper now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Smithson Valley, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 4-1.

Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Pieper and Seguin will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Matadors have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Smithson Valley, they will challenge Wagner at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
