The Oldham County Colonels will face off against the Bryan Station Defenders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
Oldham County is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering North Oldham just ended the team's 11-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 9-8.
Jozie Lashley was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. Lashley was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Aubrey Batts was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Devyn Collins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Bryan Station had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Indians. Surprisingly, this marked the Defenders' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Like Oldham County, Bryan Station also got a great game from a two-way player: Karsyn Rockvoan. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Rockvoan has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 12 strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tiahna Bowman, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.
Bryan Station's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Oldham County, their loss dropped their record down to 17-2.
