Softball Recap: Hoggard Comes Up Short

Hoggard came into this matchup off a tough eight-run loss last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Laney Buccaneers by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Vikings in their meetings with the Buccaneers: they've now lost four in a row.

Hoggard saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sophie Gee, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

Hoggard now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Laney, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-2.

Hoggard wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 12-3 victory against Ashley on the 25th. As for Laney, they will face off against North Brunswick at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Buccaneers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Scorpions have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
