Baseball Game Preview: Straughn Tigers vs. New Brockton Gamecocks

For the second straight game, Straughn will face off against New Brockton. The Tigers will welcome the Gamecocks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.

Straughn easily dispatched Brantley back in March, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Tigers fell just short of New Brockton by a score of 9-7 on Thursday. The Tigers' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

JT Moreno put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Straughn is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 4-5 otherwise. Moreno was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Saxby Radford was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Matt Ashberry was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

New Brockton now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Straughn, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 8-6.
