Baseball Recap: Angelo Restivo Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Belton

Chrisman barely beat Belton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bears' pitcher stepped up to hand the Pirates a 14-0 shutout on Friday. Considering the Bears' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Jackson Dillard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has become a key player for Chrisman: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two hits, but 6-18 otherwise. Dillard was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Angelo Restivo was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Chrisman is 4-1 when Restivo posts two or more runs, but 4-18 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Derrick Clifford, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

Chrisman's record is now 8-19. As for Belton, they moved to 7-22 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Chrisman will welcome Van Horn at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Belton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
