Basketball Recap: Baker Falls Despite Big Games from Alex Amador and Anthony Ibarra

Baker lost against Sandy Valley two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Baker Braves lost to the Sandy Valley Sidewinders at home by a 42-28 margin. The Braves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Baker had strong showings from Anthony Ibarra, who went 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points and eight steals, and Alex Amador, who posted four points in addition to 11 boards and six steals. The dominant performance gave Ibarra a new career-high in steals.

Baker's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sandy Valley, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2.

Baker will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Owens Valley at 4:00 p.m. on January 8, 2025. Baker is facing Owens Valley at the right time seeing as Owens Valley is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Sandy Valley will also get a bit of a break before their next contest: they'll face off against Spring Valley at 10:30 a.m. on January 2, 2025.
