Basketball Recap: Lawson Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Lawson was the 54-40 winner over Maplewood when they last played one another back in January, but their luck changed this time around. The Lawson Lightning fell 56-43 to the Maplewood Panthers on Tuesday.

Despite the defeat, Lawson saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chandler Galloway posted 21 points and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Elliot Brooks, who put up five points.

Even though they lost, Lawson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive matches.

Lawson's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9. As for Maplewood, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-9.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet the next time they take the court. Maplewood will host Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Lawson will host them at 7:30 p.m. on February 11th.
