Softball Recap: Joppa-Maple Grove Comes Up Short

Joppa-Maple Grove made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cobden, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Rangers fell just short of the Appleknockers by a score of 4-2 on Wednesday. The Rangers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Abigail Lang spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on one hit and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joppa-Maple Grove saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaelyn Clark, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Joppa-Maple Grove's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Cobden, they moved to 7-8 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Joppa-Maple Grove will challenge Elverado at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cobden, they will host Galatia/Thompsonville at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday.
