Basketball Recap: Annapolis Panthers vs. Meade Mustangs
Annapolis lost against Meade back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Annapolis Panthers took an 84-67 bruising from the Meade Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while the Mustangs are ranked 49th).
Leading Meade to victory were Keon Scott and Ashton Turman. Scott went 13 of 19 to rack up 33 points and seven assists, while Turman went 9 for 13 on his way to 22 points and five assists. Scott's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Arouna Soumaoro was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 boards.
Annapolis is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points over those games. As for Meade, they pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home.
Looking ahead, Annapolis will head out to face off against Chesapeake Science Point at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Meade, they will welcome South River at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in South River's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
