Basketball Game Preview: Burke Catholic vs. Chester Hambletonians

Burke Catholic will challenge the Chester Hambletonians at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Burke Catholic knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Chester likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Burke Catholic beat Middletown 61-56. Given Burke Catholic's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 239th, while Middletown is ranked 591st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chester). They enjoyed a cozy 71-55 victory over Tri-Valley on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Hambletonians.

Chester is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Burke Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Burke Catholic beat Chester 61-49 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. Will Burke Catholic repeat their success, or does Chester have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
