Baseball Game Preview: Green Valley Gators vs. Palo Verde Panthers

For the second straight game, Green Valley will face off against Palo Verde. The Gators will head out to face off against the Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Green Valley is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Palo Verde, who was ranked second at the time (Green Valley was ranked 13th). The Gators fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 4-2 on Tuesday. The Gators haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

For Palo Verde's part, Tanner Johns spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on six hits. Johns has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jace Jefferies, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Ethan Clauss was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Green Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Palo Verde, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
