Baseball Game Preview: Calvin Christian Crusaders vs. Coastal Academy Stingrays

The Calvin Christian Crusaders will face off against the Coastal Academy Stingrays at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Calvin Christian is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

On Thursday, Calvin Christian came up short against California Lutheran and fell 6-3.

Cole Souders was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Bowen Albertson was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither Coastal Academy nor Foothills Christian made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Stingrays narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Knights 5-4.

Coastal Academy pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Calvin Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Calvin Christian took their victory against Coastal Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-4 score. Will the Crusaders repeat their success, or do the Stingrays have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
