The Monticello Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They came out on top against Fluvanna County by a score of 60-48. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Monticello also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Monticello's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Samantha Shifflett, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Swanson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Monticello's victory bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Fluvanna County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-17.
Monticello will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Fluvanna County at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Monticello focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
