Softball Recap: Islip Takes a Loss

Islip had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-6 to make it four. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Miller Place Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-10 on April 7th.

As for Miller Place, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

For Miller Place's part, Tiffany Clasen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.

At the plate, Miller Place let Sadie Bryant and Delaney Schleider run wild. Bryant went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Schleider went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Those two doubles gave Bryant a new career-high. Breya Kesler was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Looking ahead, Islip will square off against John Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Miller Place, they will head out on the road to take on Westhampton Beach at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
