Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Leila Vongnarja and Mariama Fofanah Lead Cornerstone Academy to Victory

Cornerstone Academy's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Foxfire Phoenix as they made off with a 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-1 back in August.

Cornerstone Academy not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Foxfire between 16 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-16, 25-16.

Cornerstone Academy was led to victory by Mariama Fofanah and Leila Vongnarja. Fofanah had nine aces, four digs, and one block, while Vongnarja had four digs and two aces.

Cornerstone Academy is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for Foxfire, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Cornerstone Academy and Horizon Science Academy will shake off the rust and duke it out at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Foxfire, they will face off against Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
