Baseball Recap: Messalonskee Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Bangor

Messalonskee faced Bangor in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Eagles fell 7-2 to the Rams. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rams apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2024.

Messalonskee saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dennis Martin, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Messalonskee has also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for Bangor, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Messalonskee is set to face off against their familiar foe Camden Hills at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Bangor will square off against rival Hampden at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Rams 3.2, the Broncos 2.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
