Baseball Game Preview: Rogers Vikings vs. Narragansett Mariners

The Rogers Vikings will face off against the Narragansett Mariners at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rogers is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Rogers came into this matchup off a tough ten-run loss on Wednesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Johnston by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since April 23, 2024.

Darren Carter made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Trenton Carter was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Narragansett ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They came out on top against Middletown by a score of 6-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Mariners as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Riley Cronin, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Narragansett is undefeated when Cronin posts two or more runs, but 4-8 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Hohl, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double.

Narragansett's victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Rogers, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Rogers beat Narragansett 7-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2022. Will the Vikings repeat their success, or do the Mariners have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
