Baseball Recap: Lawrence Upper Comes Up Short

Lawrence Upper dropped their record down to 4-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Fuchs Mizrachi Mayhem by a score of 19-18. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Wednesday (14), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Will Crooks made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all six of his plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Lawrence Upper: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Jack Reavis was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Fuchs Mizrachi's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

On Fuchs Mizrachi's side, Louis Frank was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those runs were Frank's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Oshri Ashwal, who got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.

Coming up, Lawrence Upper will host Medina Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Knights have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season. As for Fuchs Mizrachi, they will venture away from home to take on Hillel Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
