Softball Recap: Poland Tornadoes vs. Hamilton Emerald Knights

Poland couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell victim to a tough 15-4 loss at the hands of the Hamilton Emerald Knights on Tuesday. Poland was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Hamilton apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

For Hamilton's part, Poland's batters probably weren't too happy with Ellie Freeth, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 19 Ks (she gave up six walks).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adriana Catania, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Simpson, who got on base in four of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases and three RBI.

The win got Hamilton back to even at 1-1.

Poland will head out on the road to face off against Morrisville-Eaton at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Hamilton, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against New York Mills at 4:30 p.m.
