Baseball Recap: Rancocas Valley Wins Going Away Against Eastern

Rancocas Valley came out on top against Eastern on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run sixth inning. The Red Devils put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 12-6 win. That looming 12-6 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Devils yet this season.

Matt Korbich looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Rancocas Valley is undefeated when Korbich allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Joey Sprague, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Henry Adams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

The victory made it two in a row for Rancocas Valley and bumps their season record up to 8-7. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-2.

Coming up, Rancocas Valley will face off against Cherry Hill West at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eastern, they will take on Bishop Eustace Prep at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Crusaders' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Vikings' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
