Basketball Recap: Brooklynn Fleming's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Crest Ridge over Osceola

Crest Ridge has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 39-35 heartbreaker at the hands of the Osceola Indians. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.

Crest Ridge's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklynn Fleming, who posted five points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That's the most boards Fleming has posted since back in December of 2024. Kayley Marten was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Osceola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Laney Uchtman led the charge by scoring eight points. Another player making a difference was Taryn Wood, who earned eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Crest Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Osceola, their record now sits at 16-5.

Crest Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 58-36 victory against Cole Camp on the 13th. As for Osceola, they have also already played their next match, a 60-39 win against Lakeland on the 11th.
