Baseball Game Preview: Central Eagles vs. North Central Knights

The Central Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the North Central Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central has four straight victories, North Central has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Central gave up the first runs on Tuesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 win over North Central. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Eagles have posted since March 24th.

Colton Threatt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Central: the team is 6-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-8 otherwise. Threatt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2025.

Threatt wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Tomberlin, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Those three stolen bases gave Tomberlin a new career-high. Cohen Phillips was another, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run.

Central's record is now 13-9. As for North Central, their loss dropped their record down to 3-19.
