Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Gabriella Franks and Layla Seremet Lead Clayton to Victory

Clayton won the last time they faced Smithfield-Selma and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Comets put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Comets.

Clayton walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-8, 25-17.

Leading Clayton to victory were Layla Seremet and Gabriella Franks. Seremet had ten digs and two aces, while Franks hit 60% for 13 kills and six digs and three aces. Those 60% hitting percentage gave Franks a new career-high. Cameron Eckhart also deserves some recognition as she had her first digs of the season.

Clayton now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Smithfield-Selma, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-11.

Clayton didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-0 win against Southeast Raleigh on the 25th. As for Smithfield-Selma, they have also already played their next matchup, a 3-0 loss against Garner on the 25th.
