Volleyball Recap: Seton Catholic Sentinels vs. Valley Christian Trojans

After flying high against Apache Junction last Thursday, Seton Catholic came back down to earth. The Seton Catholic Sentinels came up short against the Valley Christian Trojans on Saturday, falling 3-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Sentinels of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-14, 25-14.

Elizabeth Steinkamp paced Seton Catholic's offense, picking up 13 kills. Steinkamp got some help from Sofia Shahlapour and her 17 assists.

Leading Valley Christian to victory were Madi Brown-Mcalpine and Ansley Venkatesh. Brown-Mcalpine had eight digs and two aces, while Venkatesh had three digs and three aces. Brown-Mcalpine has been hot , having posted two or more aces the last five times she's played.

Seton Catholic's defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-12. As for Valley Christian, they pushed their record up to 23-12 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Seton Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face Globe at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Seton Catholic is facing Globe at the right time seeing as Globe is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Valley Christian, they will face off against Apache Junction at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
