Baseball Game Preview: Mountain Valley Falcons vs. Winthrop Ramblers

The Mountain Valley Falcons will challenge the Winthrop Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.

Things were looking good for Mountain Valley after they put the first run on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Dirigo by a score of 5-4. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Winthrop, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Lisbon 7-6. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Winthrop saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Trent Collin, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Tristyan Ortiz also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Mountain Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Winthrop, the win got them back to even at 7-7.

Mountain Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Winthrop when the teams last played back in June of 2024, winning 10-7. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Ramblers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
