Foothill has gone 8-2 against Chico recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cougars will host the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Foothill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Foothill is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Tuesday, they were much more limited against Pleasant Valley on Friday. They fell just short of the Vikings by a score of 3-2.
Foothill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucy Harding, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Chico had already won 12 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it 13 on Friday. They never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Camile Murphy was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, McKena Harvey was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kai Peterson, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Chico always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Enterprise only posted an OBP of .238.
Chico's win bumped their record up to 21-6. As for Foothill, their loss dropped their record down to 14-12.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Foothill hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .313. However, it's not like Chico struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
