Basketball Game Preview: Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls vs. Williamsburg Yellow Jackets

The Owsley County Owls / Lady Owls will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Williamsburg Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Owsley County has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the contest with five straight losses, while Williamsburg will come in with four straight wins.

Last Saturday, Owsley County was beaten by Jenkins 80-38. While losing is never fun, the Owls / Lady Owls can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked 238th, while the Cavaliers are ranked 79th).

Meanwhile, Williamsburg took their game on Friday with ease, bagging an 86-56 victory over Cumberland Christian Home Educators. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Owsley County's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Williamsburg, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Owsley County was dealt a bruising 65-34 loss at the hands of Williamsburg in their previous matchup back in February of 2016. Can Owsley County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
